BusinessDoctor

1. What is The Business Doctor?
At the Business Doctor we focus on sorting out the problem areas in your business, quickly and efficiently. We are a group of business professionals with expertise spanning the full range of business activities from finance to marketing, sales, legal issues, HR, operations and more.
We operate primarily in support of the business owner, and we work with you through a very structured programme with the object of resolving problems within a specific timeframe. We are very ‘hands on’ in our approach, effecting the necessary changes ourselves while also helping you to be much more effective in your capacity as the owner or manager. We do this also by ensuring that we put in place the required ‘systems’ which will help to sustain those changes into the future. In essence the purpose behind our intervention is about helping you create a more profitable and sustainable business.
2. In what ways will The Business Doctor work with me?
You will work directly with the Partner most appropriate to deal with your issues. At all times you can have access to our whole team when and as you require it. We work with you in four main ways;
• Firstly, we help you to determine what return you want from your business, particularly in terms of profitability, cashflow and time way from the business.
• A Business Blueprint® is then prepared specifically setting out what has to be done to make those aspirations a reality.
• We then work with you and your team in implementing the Business Blueprint®. This is highly structured and plotted out on a specific timeframe. It might be to devise a practical workable Sales Programme and to train the company personnel on how to make it happen on the ground. It could be introducing Monthly Management Accounts so that we know clearly what the financial position of the business is. Our ‘hands on’ approach is used to ensure that the Business Blueprint® is implemented throughout the business
• Finally we ensure that the appropriate ‘systems’ are in place to sustain best practices and procedures, not just now, but into the future.
3. Why do I need the Business Doctor?
Who would you consider to do the following for you?
• Make you push yourself further than you will on your own.
• Provide expertise and direct help in areas of business where you are less confident.
• Help you to identify where you need to be focusing your attention.
• Provide objectivity in relation to your business.
• Tell you the truth about the business.
• Hold you accountable for your actions or inaction!
4. How do I know that it will work in my industry and in my business?
We are experts in the area of sales, marketing, business development, business management and team building. We work and have worked with a very wide variety of businesses, and we know that we can apply this expertise in any business setting. At the same time we fully acknowledge that you are the expert within your own business. The optimum way forward is to bring both sets of experience and expertise to bear on the issues in your business.
5. What is a Business Blueprint®?
We start our work with a Business Blueprint® meeting. We first determine what motivates you on a personal level and what return you want from your business. We believe that your business is NOT an end in itself, but rather a means to an end. That end should be clearly defined in your own words. We then set about creating your Business BluePrint® for your business. We look at all the areas of your business from your sales and how you generate your cashflow, to how you comply with employee legislation and so forth. We probe every area of your current business to ensure that all the gaps and problems are identified and noted. At the end of this process we will have a clear picture of where we need to focus our attention and what has to change.
6. How Does the Business Blueprint® work?
Arising out of the above process we generate a Business Blueprint®. This details not only what has to change, but also how those changes are to be effected. This is where the Business Blueprint® implementation begins.
7. What is a Business Blueprint® Implementation Programme?
The Business Blueprint® implementation Programme is what makes the plan a reality! Your Partner will meet up
with on a weekly or biweekly basis, and work through a structured agenda. The process is very practical. You could be working on 4-5 areas of the business at any one time. It might be drawing up Contracts of Employment, getting financial clarity by generating Monthly Management Accounts or getting Sales in gear with new initiatives. The biggest problems get tackled first. If you are only concerned with one problem area in your business, then that’s what we exclusively work on. The whole agenda is to sort out issues/bottlenecks as a matter of urgency, and within a definite timeframe.
8. How much will it cost me?
The Business Blueprint® will involve a once off investment of €1000 to €1500 depending on the range of issues to be addressed. The monthly fees range from €900 to €1650, again depending on the size of the company, time required and the degree of involvement. The object of the exercise is to add value to the business by increasing the efficiency and profitability of the business within a relatively short period of time (3-4 months). We believe that Business Blueprint® implementation Programme is an investment, and not just a cost.
9. Where will I find the time?
Initially it will involve more work, but you’ll be creating a business that will be less dependent on you into the future. You can’t be there all of the time anyway, so you need to have a business that works just as well when you’re away. The further you are into the Business Blueprint® implementation Programme, the less work you have to do.
10. What areas can the Business Doctor work with you on?
The following are typical areas we cover:
• Sales and Marketing
• Establishing Financial clarity
• Compliance with Employment Legislation
• Team building and recruitment
• Systemising of business processes
• Customer service
11. When is the best time to start?
Now! Don’t procrastinate. The only ‘ideal’ time is ‘now’. You might feel that if you only work harder then you’ll be able to sort out the problems that confront you. No, that’s not usually the case. Success is more about working ‘smarter’ than ‘harder’. That’s where the Business Doctor can make the difference.
12. How do we get started?
Just contact the Business Doctor as detailed on our website. We will set up a meeting to discuss your issues. If we feel that we can help you, we’ll outline how that can be done.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank The Business Doctor for the wonderful support and advice they have given us at Ebrex. The business has undergone massive change in the last 2 years with our revenues nearly double what they were previously. Without your help it would never have happened. I’ve also gone from working 18 hour days to a situation where I can leave the business at any time and know that it will function effectively in my absence. For me Business Mentoring has been a life-changing experience”
Des Culleton, Managing Director, Ebrex Ireland (International transport/logistics company), North Dublin Corporate park, Swords.
“Many thanks to the Business Doctor for all of the help and support in helping us realise our dreams for the business. It has truly amazed me how dramatically the business has grown and developed over the last 3 years with annual turnover going from 800K to over 3M. We went from holding our meetings in a porta-cabin to creating a new office complex. With the right staff in place to cover all areas of the business, our sales figures have doubled, and our reputation has soared. Everyone’s spirits have been lifted, and with the weight off our shoulders, we find that we can focus our attention on steering the business on the right course for future prosperity”.
Damien Lee, Managing Director, Double L Concrete and Granite, Rathcoole Co Dublin.
“Business Mentoring with The Business Doctor was one of the best things that ever happened to our business. It gave us purpose, direction and structure, which were all badly needed at the time. And guess what? Our monthly revenues have gone from about 190K to 315-320K; an increase of over 65%.”
Jeff Dunne, Managing Director, Wraptite Packaging Ltd, Ballycoolin, Dublin 15.
“The Business Doctor has helped us to organise our staff and systems so that we are all working much more effectively as a team. The benefits of everyone working in the right direction are tremendous; not only in terms of growth in the business and increased profitability, but also in terms of the much improved morale of our team of people.”
Dr Ann Devitt, Plaza Medical Clinic, Swords
“We met The Business Doctor in 2005 when we operated out of a small, poky premises in the East Wall area. From that we’ve moved to a fantastic new facility in Northwest Business Park. The change in our surroundings has certainly been mirrored in the performance of our business. We’re much more organised than before. The people working here know their job and work to clear guidelines. We’re much more sales and service oriented now, whereas before we got bogged down dealing with problems caused by poor work practices and inefficiency. With the work The Business Doctor has done with us, I feel that we’re much better prepared for the future.“
Niall McEvoy, Managing Director, U‐Value Insulation, Northwest Business Park, Blanchardstown

Trade - the voluntary exchange of goods, services, or both. Trade is also called commerce or transaction. A mechanism that allows trade is called a market. The original form of trade was barter, the direct exchange of goods and services. Trade exists for man due to specialization and division of labor, most people concentrate on a small aspect of production, trading for other products. Trade exists between regions because different regions have a comparative advantage in the production of some tradable commodity, or because different regions' size allows for the benefits of mass production.
